What Vedic astrology looks at
Jyotish is part of the Vedic tradition and uses the sidereal zodiac, so sign positions differ from Western astrology. It places more weight on the Moon, the 27 Nakshatras and the Dasha system: the Nakshatra speaks of temperament and instinct, the Dasha of which planet governs which period of life.
It is good at answering not fortune but why this and when. The same theme looks different in different Dashas; once you read the timing, much no longer needs forcing.
We do not treat a chart as a verdict. It is more like a map showing where the slopes and paths are; how you walk is still up to you.

Common questions about Vedic astrology
- How is Vedic astrology different from Western astrology?
- Mainly the zodiac. Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, about 24 degrees behind the tropical one, so your Sun sign may differ. It also weights the Moon, Nakshatras and the Dasha system, and is strong on timing and life themes.
- Can I get a chart without an exact birth time?
- You can use an approximate time for the overall picture, but the ascendant and houses may shift. In a reading we can rectify the time from major life events.
- What is a Nakshatra?
- The zodiac is divided into 27 Nakshatras of 13 degrees 20 minutes each. The Moon's Nakshatra describes instinct and temperament and is the starting point of the Dasha system, no less important than the Sun sign.
- Are readings available online?
- Yes. Readings are mainly online: book, fill in birth details and the questionnaire, then meet by video.
- Does astrology make people fatalistic?
- We do not treat a chart as a verdict. It is more like a map showing where the slopes and paths are; how you walk is still up to you.
